The last time I looked, ld_res_mutex is always held when touching lconn_refcnt. That was before your most recent commits.

Thanks. Just wanted to note that I didn't change anything so far, except for checking mutex ownership when #ifdef LDAP_THREAD_DEBUG. Keep investigating...
