Necessity of new control ...

Hi guys, I'm using OpenLdap and I want not desist .. but I need get random entries from a search result or a list .. I was reading and this could be implemented by a control, what you think ? Like paged control result, it most efficient that this functionality reside on the server, but maybe you think that it not necessary .. or inefficient If you agree I can develop it, with your help because I'm not familiarized neither a little ... The problem it's that I'm very hurried, this is a critical issue that I need solve to continues with the system that I'm designing ..otherwise I will need replicate some data to SQL ... Will be complicated develop this control ? Best regards, Elier

Status of ldbm in HEAD?

Dear all, What's the status with ldbm in 2.4? The only mention of it in HEAD is in: doc/man/man5/slapd-ldbm.5 (obviously ;-) ) doc/man/man5/slapd.conf.5 doc/man/man5/slapo-syncprov.5 build/openldap.m4 servers/slapd/back-bdb/dn2id.c and loads of #ldbm#index in tests/data/* It looks like it's completely dropped to me, so I was going to remove mention of it from the man pages later, but wasn't sure about core code. Kill K&R C support?

As far as I can tell, OpenLDAP has been unusable with K&R C since openldap-2.0: lber.h in that release had prototypes unprotected by LDAP_P() in struct sockbuf_io. They've been there ever since. So LDAP_P() can go. Don't know which other not-strict-ISO support is still useful - I note lber.h has used <string.h> since openldap-2.2.4, for example. libldap/open.c has used <limits.h> since 2.0.0. HEAD wraps that in HAVE_LIMITS_H, but it does not protect INT_MAX the same way. -- Regards, Hallvard

OpenLDAP 2.3.x : support for windows

Thanks for all who gave me an opportunity to be with a good community for open source s/w development. I have begun experimenting OpenLDAP versions in Ubuntu.. I have also tried an installer of version 2.1.x on Windows. I see that the support of OpenLDAP for Windows platform has been kind of withdrawn since 2.2.x versions. I'd like to request the community to join hands to provide support for the same. I have begun working on it...I need help from other developers. The main aim is "Let all users of OpenLDAP be benefited! " Let's foster the development! Thanks.

Status of Connectionless LDAP (cldap)

ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s

I'm working on a patch to add LDAP SASL support to Postfix 2.4 (I made one for 2.2/2.3 a long time ago), and this time I want it to be accepted upstream, so I'm working on what they feel the issues are. Right now, they (a) always want LDAP_SASL_QUIET enabled (makes perfect sense to me) and (b) want the SASL mechanism to be a list of mechanisms the client supports, that should be tried when connecting to the server. I think (b) is rather non-sensical, given the configurations are rather different between things like DIGEST-MD5, EXTERNAL, and GSSAPI just to start, but... I assume to support this I should use the ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s function, which takes as a parameter a list of mechanisms, if I'm reading it right. The question to me comes up with mixing LDAP_SASL_QUIET in, because part of the routine involved with multiple mechansisms seems to want interaction with the client. My assumption is that if I use ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s, with LDAP_SASL_QUIET, and pass in a list of mechanisms, the client will just use the first mechanism in its list. Is that correct?
