There's an application that "bombs" slapd filtering for equality on entryDN. I know it sounds like a nonsense, but that's how it is.
Would it make sense to use the dn2id index as the default entryDN key database for equality on entryDN, instead of explicitly configuring (and maintaining) an index on entryDN?
