I recommend upgrading both BDB and OpenSSL. You might want to check out the following sites which offer fairly recent precompiled packages of open source software to save yourself a few headaches on AIX... http://pware.hvcc.edu http://www.perzl.org/aix OpenLDAP does not require SASL, but you might need it depending on how you plan to deploy the former. Since entry cache items hang off of dncache items, the only consequence of a "wrong" configuration here is that the entry cache could only ever grow to the size of the dncache.
