Maximum ldap search filter string length ?

Hello openldap-technical ML. Is there a clear answer to the question about the maximum ldap search filter length ? Dit hava a look at the ldapsearch code (2.4.19) and all seems dynamicaly allocated, and therefore no hard/fixed limit. ldap_search_ext/ldap_search (manpage) doesn't talk about limits too. filter is about: RFC 4515 as extended by RFC 4526, but doesn't mention maximum size as far i read. That leaves me to the conclusion that the filter size is dependent on archite4cture (32/64 bits), available memory systemwide, and available memory within a proces. Can someone confirm or deny this is correct, and perhaps is there a (rough) guide/best practice about max filter string length's ? Thanks in Advance, -- Arjan Filius mailto:iafilius@xs4all.nl

I think, it should be fine to define a database for each provider/subset of data on the consumer and define different syncrepl statements for each database (it may work in one database with different "searchbase"s und "rid"s). I means how to config replication in a multi-level LDAP nodes. like the following the parent node is has a domain "dc=parentCA, dc=rootCA", and under this domain, many users were saved with dn like "cn=john, ou=sales,dc=parentCA, dc=rootCA" it has some sons nodes,like "dc=son1CA,dc=parentCA, dc=rootCA" and like its parent,users were saved with dn like "cn=john, ou=sales,dc=son1CA,dc=parentCA, dc=rootCA" Now, I hope parent node could saved data from sons node, so I try to config replication between the two nodes to make parent node could pull data from son node. Authentication information cannot be recovered

I have a headless server running Ubuntu 10.04 with LDAP set to expire every 30 days. This is the first time that my password expired after the upgrade from 8.10 LTS, and now it won't let me get to the command prompt. I login, then I get the following messages: WARNING: Your password has expired. You must change your password now and login again! Enter login(LDAP) password: LDAP Password incorrect: try again Enter login(LDAP) password: passwd: Authentication information cannot be recovered passwd: password unchanged and it logs me off. What should I be looking for? delta-sync replication slave quitting problem - not a single retry

Hello guys, I have a problem with delta-syn replication (all set up according to 'official' guide - http://www.openldap.org/doc/admin24/replication.html#Delta-syncrepl I have master instance with logs 'shipped' to a client - it all works fine as long as connection is good. Getting ready to move into production I'm trying to emulate connectivity problems and here where I got problems. Evidence of client information in openldap accesslog

Hi list, I'm implementing slapo-accesslog in my openldap deployment. I have about 100 unix/linux systems that use a central openldap deployment to make authentication and grant access to users. With accesslog I'm able to see when a particular user has logged in, but is there a way to obtain, on the LDAP server side, information about which system has been accessed? openldap-2.4.23 compile configure: error: could not locate ndbclient library

Hi All I have been trying to solve this for 4 days now without any luck. I have searched and tried fixes and nothing works, I am hoping some fresh minds and eyes can help me out with this. I want to run OpenLDAP using MySQL Cluster Server with the ndb backend database. I have installed mysql-cluster-gpl-7.1.5 from source, it is working and I have migrated some data into it to test. I am trying to compile openldap-2.4.23 with support for back-NDB. I run: ./configure --enable-ndb --disable-hdb --disable-bdb --prefix=/usr/local/openldap and eventually get: checking for ndb_init in -lndbclient... no configure: error: could not locate ndbclient library I am doing this on an Ubuntu 10.04 Linux system 2.6.32-24-server SMP x86_64 GNU/Linux. syncrepl could copy data between master and slave. However, it happened the two same LDAP server. So I need replicate data to superior CA, like the following: superior CA : dc= ACA,dc=RootCA (ip is 192.168.0.137) son CA: dc=BCA,dc=ACA,dc=RootCA (ip is 192.168.0.138) In superior CA , slapd.conf is including: syncrepl rid=000 provider=ldap://192.168.0.138:389 type=refreshOnly interval=00:00:01:00 searchbase="dc=BCA,dc=ACA,dc=RootCA" filter="(objectClass=*)" scope=sub schemachecking=off bindmethod=simple binddn="cn=admin,dc=BCA,dc=ACA,dc=RootCA" credentials=secret retry="5 5 300 +" mirrormode on It doesn't work.
