The patch http://archives.likewiseopen.org/~ssalley/OpenLDAP/scott-salley-100601-set-e... ensures ld_errno is set to an error when there is no valid result.
Thanks for the report. Actually the Notice of Disconnect comes with an error code from the server, and that's actually what should be returned to the client here. Fixed in HEAD.
