Patch to HEAD from Howard is committed.
Patch from Howard needs to be expanded so that a new keyword is used for the idle timer here, rather than the value from idletimeout. This will require some reworking of the daemon to wake up for that interval as well.
Committed to HEAD - added a writetimeout config keyword.
