Wrap such code in #ifdef on OPTIMISTIC_LIBVERSION_SASL or something in OpenLDAP, so that people with 3rd party code done right can ./configure CPPFLAGS=-DOPTIMISTIC_LIBVERSION_SASL instead of patching the code?
