Sigh! I find their release versioning and patch publication somewhat hard to follow anyway. So the best advice to users is to simply avoid 4.7.25 at this time. The pwdFailureTime's appear on the directory receiving the change and contextCSN updates, but the replica-side disregards the event. In syncprov.c:1646: /* Don't do any processing for consumer contextCSN updates */ if ( SLAP_SYNC_SHADOW( op->o_bd ) && op->o_msgid == SLAP_SYNC_UPDATE_MSGID ) { ldap_pvt_thread_rdwr_wunlock( &si->si_csn_rwlock ); return SLAP_CB_CONTINUE; } This seems to be designed so that when the local side applies remote changes, the resulting contextCSN update does not get sent back out to any persistent searchers. Unfortuantely, this path is also taken for the pwdFailureTime as a result of a bad (or good) BIND op on a new connection. This means the change is applied to the directory receving the BIND, but replicas of it in multi-master situations discard the change. This definitely seems to be the MSGID issue because if the BIND is not the first thing being done, then the pwdFailureTime messages propagate correctly; e.g. if using STARTTLS and then BIND, no replication problem exists. So... any consensus on the right way to do this test? We could start looking specifically for changes to contextCSN, but that's sort of ugly. (ITS#5708) nss-ldap not responding properly

The issue is I have openldap working with PAM and NSS to do the authentication stuff for courier services. But at times users are unable to log into their accounts, restarting NSCD and SLAPD solves the problem but that too for a short time. These are some details and errors which I have. ##libnss-ldap.conf host 127.0.0.1 base dc=com ldap_version 3 binddn uid=example,dc=com bindpw secret bind_policy soft ##nsswitch.conf passwd: compat ldap group: compat ldap shadow: compat ldap hosts: files dns networks: files protocols: db files services: db files ethers: db files rpc: db files netgroup: nis And the errors which I get are --> user.info: Sep 18 11:24:35 nscd: nss_ldap: reconnecting to LDAP server... user.err: Sep 18 11:24:35 nscd: nss_ldap: could not connect to any LDAP server as uid=example,dc=com - Can't contact LDAP server And some time I get --> local4.debug: Sep 23 11:21:40 slapd[8880]: conn=224 fd=20 closed (connection lost) or local4.debug: Sep 23 11:15:21 slapd[8880]: connection_read(20): no connection! When using multiple lock table partitions, it obtains a lock on the system-wide lock mutex and a lock on the per-region mutex. On a single core system it defaults to a single lock table. It hangs in test-001 and it hangs in a LDAP conn (probably when doing a bind). Is that combination really stable? It works with very same build scripts/configuration with 4.6.21+patches. I have added a restrict=<uri> parameter to slapo-constraint, which allows to optionally restrict the entries the constraint would apply to. I have also allowed the <attr> to actually be an attribute list, in case one needs to apply the same constraint to more than one. Finally, the "set" type is now available. I was reading the code and if I understand correctly, old config directives will still work as long as the new URI directive isn't present? My reason for asking is that I thought I might need to update the Upgrading section of the Admin Guide? > Perhaps we want the config statements sorted differently (e.g. lexicographically)?
