If you can find any current, active organizations with a currently maintained spec for this schema, we can certainly update it. Otherwise, seems like we should drop it.

but again, the very difficulty in locating them tends to indicate that they're not in common use...

I'd have no objections against removing that file from OpenLDAP's source distribution. I was just testing including as many schema files as possible and checking dependencies (for interop testing with web2ldap).
