I provided a patch, and another suggested way of fixing the issue I encountered, and as you can see from the openldap-technical archive, I had one short reply from Howard on the subject and nothing thereafter. Likewise ITS#8436 has sat in Incoming since it was raised in June without comment.
My feeling is that the OpenLDAP code base is now too big for the number of active developers, pushing rare issues like this right to the bottom of their queue. I doubt it'll get fixed.
