FYI, ldapmodify, or at least the version I have, doesn't accept the "packets" option. Instead I ran with "-d 16", which I "think" is the same thing.
From the slapd.conf(5) man page:
2 (0x2 packets) debug packet handling 16 (0x10 BER) print out packets sent and received
So no, not quite the same thing. ;) I'll see if it gives what is needed though. :)
