openldap 2.4.40 is available in jessie and in wheezy-backports. If you can reproduce the problem with this version, please report the bug to the Debian bug tracker.

openldap 2.4.44 sources are available from openldap.org, and binary packages are available from ltb-project.org. If you can reproduce the problem with this version, please follow up to this ITS.
