ITS#6459 syncprov memory leak work-around question

Hi, I'm bitten by the syncprov memory leak in ITS#6459. I'm hoping that the Ubuntu server team will backport this from upstream -- if they don't, I'll rebuild the package. In the meantime I'm wondering if switching from RefreshAndPersist to RefreshOnly would prevent this leak. Does this seem possible?
