I had a similar error using RH 6 and so I used pwdAttribute: 2.5.4.35 instead of pwdAttribute: userPassword
This sounds like you're missing schema values. If you inspect your schema, do you have an attributeType defined for pwdAttribute? If not you'll need to load additional schema.
