These controls I referenced are required by my app to return a list of user accounts.

I've been helping give the Jumpbox guys some pointers abotu defaults configs etc. for their appliance. It's just bog standard Debian and OpenLDAP debs around 2.3 I think, unless it's been updated recently.
I'll double check though.
Gavin.
Sorry about that.
Yeah it seems to be a standard install for OpenLDAP. I tried doing my own build and it also did not have these controls enabled.
I'm hoping someone knows what modifications I need to make to the slapd.conf or maybe some other file, that will enable these controls. Your client applications are broken. As I already stated, no version of OpenLDAP slapd provides those controls. 1) applications which use these controls are inherently broken, since the server side sorting spec is inherently broken. 2) applications which fail when a particular control is unavailable are inherently broken.
Thanks.

When you say these controls aren't provided, you mean they don't actually exist or are they a seperate install?> Date: Sun, 6 Apr 2008 12:38:57 -0700> From: hyc@symas.com> To: kupferg@msn.com> CC: openldap-technical@openldap.org> Subject: Re: openLDAP controls> > Gene Kupfer wrote:> > Sorry about that.> >> > Yeah it seems to be a standard install for OpenLDAP. They are not provided by OpenLDAP or by an addon to OpenLDAP software.
See the archvies about this feature and the many discussions surrounding it.
