Search Filter for Second Value

Is there any way to craft a search filter that checks for an attribute with two or more values? For example, how could I construct a query to search for users with two passwords? Hello list, Recently I ran into the olcDbURI bug that was mentioned earlier on this mailing list (http://www.openldap.org/lists/openldap-technical/201011/msg00124.html). It turned out to be part of ITS #6540 and I've found that the issue was resolved and patch was submitted sometime in Nov, 2010. I am currently running ubuntu 10.04 with the following openldap packages : libldap-2.4-2 2.4.21-0ubuntu5.3 slapd 2.4.21-0ubuntu5.3 What I'm wondering is, if there's a minor release that I can install on my servers. I've searched the official Ubuntu repositories and they don't seem to offer an updated package, so I realize that building the package is my only option. Your input is highly appreciated. -- Khosrow

auto incrementing digit pool

Is there a way of creating an attribute which can be assigned a value which auto increments using an external file. In other words, say I use the employeeNumber attribute but I want the value to be entered by picking the next value from a file. In my file, I might have 000123 000124 000125 000126 000127 Then when I run an ldap connection from my remote application, it would pick the next number if it doesn't exist on any account. The next problem is I don't know how ldap works in terms of keeping track of things. When I sync my application database with ldap, does it, or can it, check all of the users to see if a value is assigned or is that beyond it's functions? Or, would keeping track of the values be something which needs to be done on the application side? The programmers tell me that there is no means of going back to ldap to identify if a user has been assigned a value, therefore, assign the next.

Failover Failure Advice

I've setup a master and slave ldap service for failover; however, I'd like some advice on how to keep the ldap clients cached with the ldap creds if ever the master and slave ldap server goes. I've tried to extend the time of the caching on nscd - name server caching daemon - but it doesnt work when I add ldap users to certain groups. I've also tried pam caching credentials but doesn't work that well either. Finally, I also tried sssd but couldn't get it to work on my Ubuntu 10.10 clients. Anyone have simple solution that works when slave and master ldap servers get out of commission? I've thought about getent passwd >> /etc/passwd cron job, etc.

Setting OPENLDAP_FD_SETSIZE on an existing directory

Hi, I recieved my first of these errrors from openldap server today. slapd[1648]: warning: cannot open /etc/hosts.deny: Too many open files The faqomatic suggest that I do the following: env CPPFLAGS="-DOPENLDAP_FD_ SETSIZE=8192" ./configure http://www.openldap.org/faq/data/cache/1126.html Is there anyway I can set this without having to build openldap again? Translucent proxy as syncrepl consumer

Hi everyone, I'm trying to setup a translucent proxy which is populating his local database as a syncrepl consumer. It works fine, changes on the master are replicated to the translucent, but i get an error in logs. I'm not developer of OpenLDAP Software. I'm ordinary end user. OpenLDAP Software discussion list is now shutdown. Can you tell what does it mean? Where can I send my questions when I have a problems with new OpenLDAP sotfware? Really on OpenLDAP-technical list? And maybe OpenLDAP team not supporting software discussion list for ordinary end user now? I'm very sorry but I don't understand this at all. Send me please short information about it. Hello, I'm trying to use pcache overlay to cache queries done by dynlist overlay. This is the configuration I have: database hdb suffix <userSuffix> ... overylay dynlist dynlist-attrset labeledURIObject labeledURI # This is because, data obtained by dynlist is in another ldap directory database ldap suffix dc=mydomain,dc=com access ... uri ldap:/<anotherldap> ... overlay pcache pcache hdb 1000 1 10 60 pcacheAttrset 0 irisClassifCode sn1 givenName pcacheMaxQueries 10000 pcacheTemplate (&(objectClass=)(irisPersonalUniqueId=)) 0 3600 directory /var/lib/ldap/cachepublica cachesize 100 The pcacheTemplate is because labeledURI attributes are in the form: labeledURI: ldap:///dc=mydomain,dc=com?irisClassifCode,sn1,givenName?one? (irisPersonalUniqueID=<someCode>) The final search done in the final ldap directory is: filter="(&(!(objectClass=labeledURIObject))(irisPersonalUniqueID=<someCode>))" so I think I need to negate the search in the pcacheTemplate, but I can't because I get the error: /etc/ldap/slapd.conf: line 419: unable to parse template: AttributeDescription contains inappropriate characters. whenever I try to put the '!' in the template. MemberOf attribute not being returned

Hi, I'm sure this was working in the past on this server but Im now not getting anything returned when I request the memberOf attribute.
