Trouble with UID Filter in OpenLDAP (slapd meta): Missing Schema or Configuration Issue?

Hi! I think I'm finally able to configure slapd with a meta backend, but I'm experiencing a strange issue when I perform a search with ldapsearch and try to filter by uid. If I use "uid=user" it doesn't work, but if I use "cn=user" it does work, and I need the searches to be by uid. I understand this could be related to the schemas I’m loading, but I thought uid was a standard attribute already loaded in core.schema. Just in case, I'm using Debian 12, and these are the schemas available: collective.schema corba.schema core.schema cosine.schema dsee.schema duaconf.schema dyngroup.schema inetorgperson.schema java.schema misc.schema msuser.schema namedobject.schema nis.schema openldap.schema pmi.schema These are the schemas I’m using to test: include /etc/ldap/schema/core.schema include /etc/ldap/schema/cosine.schema include /etc/ldap/schema/inetorgperson.schema include /etc/ldap/schema/nis.schema And as a detail, I find that this part referring to uid (I might be mistaken) is commented out: attributetype ( 0.9.2342.19200300.100.1.1 NAME ( 'uid' 'userid' ) DESC 'RFC1274: user identifier' EQUALITY caseIgnoreMatch SUBSTR caseIgnoreSubstringsMatch SYNTAX 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.15{256} ) but when I try to uncomment it, I get the error: 672b6c65.324d8768 0x7febb561d200 /etc/ldap/schema/core.schema: line 564 attributetype: Duplicate attributeType: "0.9.2342.19200300.100.1.1" Just in case, here’s my configuration. Could it be that something is missing so that a user can log in against this slapd? Since my applications search by uid (some are very legacy and I can't modify them), I'm unable to verify if everything is correctly set up to make a connection. Yes, indeed the way was to use a simple bind of an email user with admin permissions in Google, and with that, I was able to do the bind. Thank you! Thank you for the response! No, no... these are example data that I put together to understand how Google users are structured and the issue that uppercase letters are causing me. In the Google LDAP audit, I see that the user fails and appears in lowercase. Once again, I apologize; I ran so many tests that I accidentally copied one where the binddn was incorrect. Hello everyone! I have been trying to configure slapd for a week to use it as a proxy for Google's LDAP service in order to connect some legacy applications. Since I have multiple domains in Google, I need to centralize all users into a common "dc." Everything is working well, but the problem is that, apparently, when connecting to Google, I am provided with a certificate that I download from the admin console. However, with that certificate alone, slapd cannot connect to the target. So, I generate some credentials from the Google LDAP admin and add them to the slapd configuration. The issue is that, for some reason, slapd converts the username to lowercase, and Google rejects it because it is case-sensitive. Is it possible to disable this function? Unnamed sub-databases in LMDB

Background: I am trying to implement a fully dynamic connectivity algorithm, based on this paper (https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/502090.502095), using LMDB as the backend. Other implementations use an in-memory binary search tree. I am currently working on trying to implement an Euler Tour Forest using LMDB. Essentially, an Euler Tour of an unbalanced tree is obtained by doing a DFS and assigning an increasing index every time we visit a node (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euler_tour_technique). An Euler Tour Tree is simply a balanced tree containing the euler tour index as the key and a pointer to the node as the value, so I plan to store each Euler Tour Tree using an LMDB database. Problem: I need an unlimited amount of sub-databases - my first thought was to use mdb_dbi_open, however, it seems like this doesn't scale well because a list of named sub-databases is stored in every transaction. In the talk about LMDB's functionality at CMU (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEa5sAh-kVk) there is some reference to sub-databases, but from reading the code it seems like unnamed sub-databases are only used for sorted duplicate keys. Am I correct in thinking that I'm going to need to add some new code to support unnamed sub-databases, or is there some way to do it that I'm not recognizing? And if I do need to change things, where should I start? Ruben Soh

Error after OpenLDAP update from 2.4 to 2.5 - ppolicy schema

Hello, unfortunately I missed the update version note for the schema ppolicy. After updating and restarting the slapd service, I can no longer delete the schema. Help me understand LMDB internals

I am a student trying to understand the code for LMDB. One thing I am confused about - there is apparently no mutex for creating a reader transaction. In the function mdb_txn_renew0, which is called by mdb_txn_begin to create the transaction, I see that if we are creating a read-only transaction, we select a meta page without acquiring any mutex. Then, the meta page snapshotted in these lines (and accessed later in the function as well): /* Copy the DB info and flags */ memcpy(txn->mt_dbs, meta->mm_dbs, CORE_DBS * sizeof(MDB_db)); /* Moved to here to avoid a data race in read TXNs */ txn->mt_next_pgno = meta->mm_last_pg+1; What happens if a write transaction commits to the meta page while this copy is happening? Isn't it possible that the reader transaction will have copied an inconsistent view of the meta page? Sincerely, Ruben

Hello, I'm working on the same project as Meheni. Thanks for your answer, we'll try version 2.6 OpenLDAP using the lastbind-precision. However we have several questions for the current version we're using. Is this a known problem and referenced somewhere? (we haven't found it) Is it normal to find no replication error logs even in stats + sync mode?
