Thanks for your response, I did ignore the error. However, the search result is empty, not sure what could go wrong. my sladp.conf file is same as described in quick start guide.

So I think installation is correct but when I try to do a search as described in the article, result is :
As noted repeatedly, even by the test itself, you should ignore any errors from test058. That's why it exists with success.

why do you think the posted search result is empty? Did you even read the output?
This is the returned entry:
dn: namingContexts: dc=example,dc=com
ldapsearch even tells you everything went OK:
result: 0 Success
And how many entries were returned:
# numEntries: 1
