OK. The system I tested on has:
cat /proc/sys/net/core/wmem_default 212992 cat /proc/sys/net/core/wmem_max 212992
Interestingly, I see the same default here for SLES12, but I also see (guessing it could be relevant): net.ipv4.tcp_wmem = 4096 16384 4194304
Same for the CentOS8 box I'm on.
