/sbin/ldconfig apparently skips /usr/local/lib , you have to adjust /etc/ld.so.conf before running /sbin/ldconfig and verify by `ldconfig - p|grep libldap-2.5` that the library is indexed. Or /sbin/ldconfig was just not run after the library was installed.

Or just correctly set the compile time build flags so that the library runpath is correctly built into the binaries.
