The example from the Net::LDAPapi perl module
(http://search.cpan.org/dist/perl-ldap/lib/Net/LDAP/Control/SyncRequest.pm)
works flawlessly with the syncprov overlay.

I'd suggest you use the Net::LDAPapi perl module, and read the
documentation, which gives an example of a sync client and how to test
with
it.
