That's a typo in the quickstart guide that's already fixed for the next release. It would be /usr/local/etc/slapd.d
Also ensure that directory exists prior to running the command.

You are now ready to start the Standalone LDAP Daemon, slapd(8), by running the command: su root -c /usr/local/libexec/slapd -F /usr/local/etc/cn=config
And here that would also be /usr/local/etc/slapd.d
