Dear all,
We have been setup a 4 ways multi-master replication openldap version 2.4.11.
It has been running for a year.
However, recently, we find that one of the server has 100% high CPU and all the replication can't be replicated to that server.
After restart the slapd process, it can be resumed normal. But afraid that high CPU will occur again.
What changes recently is that we just added 1 field in the schema file in all the 4 servers, there is no other things changed.
Any idea of the high CPU ?
What data should be collected in case high CPU occurs again ?

There have been numerous fixes to OpenLDAP 2.4.x release series related to multi-master replication. You should seriously consider to upgrade.
Ciao, Michael.
We have a 11 ways MMR. With versions < 2.4.15 we've seen high CPU usage, after an upgrade to 2.4.15 and some tunning to BDB and OpenLDAP cache values the CPU usage is normal again (5-10%).

We've followed the guide at http://www.openldap.org/doc/admin24/tuning.html#Berkeley it is important to say that the guide is for older versions, and that some parameters have a different name, but the meaning is the same.
The parameters that we've changed, with an ldif modify format, are:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- dn: olcDatabase={1}hdb, cn=config changetype: modify replace: olcDbCheckpoint olcDbCheckpoint: 1024 5 - replace: olcDbCacheSize olcDbCacheSize: 45000 - replace: olcDbConfig olcDbConfig: {0}set_cachesize 0 94371840 0 olcDbConfig: {1}set_lk_max_objects 4500 olcDbConfig: {2}set_lk_max_locks 4500 olcDbConfig: {3}set_lk_max_lockers 4500 - replace: olcDbIDLcacheSize olcDbIDLcacheSize: 135000 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have around 35,000 entries, with the following BDB sizes:
5.7M dn2id.bdb 85M id2entry.bdb
You should consider the amount of RAM available.
If we could help you with anything else please let us know.
Regards.
