Actually, I just looked at the OpenLDAP source, and the error you are reporting appears to come from the LTB project. It could be that their tool is only designed to work with multi provider instances, and your setup as far as OpenLDAP is concerned may be ok. I can't really say because it's difficult to determine what your end goal is.
