Re: using openldap as a translation layer.
Are there any prebuilts with this enabled? I didn't actually build it myself
(compiling OpenSSL provided more headache than its worth in Windows)

It seems that your build enabled neither the ldap backend nor the rwm
overlay. None of them is built by default. See configure --help for
options.
