Dear list members,
i am trying to delete a tree in my ldapserver (i am using ldbm as database backend). Actually i can perform the delete operation, but i end up with the following:
$ ldapdelete -x -D 'cn=admin,dc=ufv,dc=br' -W -r dc=ufv,dc=br^M^M Enter LDAP Password: ^M ldap_search: Server is unwilling to perform (53)^M additional info: critical control unavailable in context^M ldap_search: Server is unwilling to perform (53)^M additional info: critical control unavailable in context^M ldap_search: Server is unwilling to perform (53)^M additional info: critical control unavailable in context^M ldap_search: Server is unwilling to perform (53)^M additional info: critical control unavailable in context^M ldap_search: Server is unwilling to perform (53)^M additional info: critical control unavailable in context^M ldap_search: Server is unwilling to perform (53)^M additional info: critical control unavailable in context^M ldap_search: Server is unwilling to perform (53)^M additional info: critical control unavailable in context^M ldap_search: Server is unwilling to perform (53)^M additional info: critical control unavailable in context^M ldap_search: Server is unwilling to perform (53)^M additional info: critical control unavailable in context^M ldap_search: Server is unwilling to perform (53)^M additional info: critical control unavailable in context^M $

This bug in the -r option of ldapdelete has been fixed about one year ago in OpenLDAP 2.4.8. You should upgrade, or manually perform the subtree delete, or use back-bdb/back-hdb.

Why are you using back-ldbm? It's been removed from the OpenLDAP 2.4 release for good reason, and it was deprecated for a long time prior to that. Use one of the supported backends (back-hdb or back-bdb).
