instalation configuration: i am loosing my hairs
by John Nietzsche
Dear list members,
i am reading the OpenLDAP Software 2.3 Administrator's Guide. I saw
that for this version, OpenLDAP keeps its configuration inside Ldap
service itself.
I could understand how it could be done: It seemed to me an
chicken-egg problem?
After just installation, how could i "tell" openldap daemon server to
access this initial configuration file?
Where do i get this file from? Does it come from the tarball distributed?
Could you give the way i should "walk" ?
Thanks in advance.

What I'm trying to tell you is that ACL parsing never gets to that "by *
read" because it comes __after__ a commented out line. As such, that
"by * read" is either a continuation of the comment or garbage. The
fact that on the "current running prod server you have the same
settings" is irrelevant.

No, passwords are in whatever hash you created them (default {SSHA}),
and {CRYPT} is the worst choice you could make.
